Aspen Medical forms Joint Corporation with the UAE Government to Operate Ambulance Service
Aspen Medical has become the first Australian company to form a jointly owned corporation with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Government, through the Abu Dhabi Police.
The corporation - the National Ambulance Company (NAC) will provide private ambulance services in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Aspen Medical was selected by the Abu Dhabi Police after an international search for companies that could support the UAE Government in the establishment and management of a private ambulance service. Aspen Medical was selected over companies from Europe and the USA due to its reputation for innovation, high quality operations, clinical standards and experience in remote areas.
The NAC will commence providing emergency services by the end of this year. It is anticipated that the NAC will quickly expand to provide ambulance cover for major private and public events throughout the Emirate.
Aspen Medical’s Managing Director, Glenn Keys, said “This is an exciting development for Aspen Medical. To be recognised by the UAE Government after such a rigorous global search is a great honour. The services the NAC will provide are critical to the safe conduct of a range of activities across the UAE and everyone at Aspen Medical is proud to be part of this new enterprise.”
“The UAE Government is utilising a range of innovative methods to grow healthcare capability across the country and this partnership is a ground-breaking model. The Government of Abu Dhabi represented by the Abu Dhabi Police is to be congratulated for pioneering new models for service development and Aspen Medical is pleased to be at the forefront of these models in concert with the Government.” said Keys
The NAC will operate as a separate company with Aspen Medical holding a number of seats on the Board of Directors. Members of the Abu Dhabi Police, representing the UAE Government on the NAC Board are currently visiting Canberra.
